Keshi speaks- Mikel Is Vital To My Team

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has revealed that he is not going to give up on Eagles number 10, John Obi Mikel.

Keshi revealed that Mikel is still a vital cog in his game plans despite Mikel not starting for his English club Chelsea.

Mikel has been criticized for his below par perfomance for the eagles recently and his recent games against Congo and South Africa have done the player no good.

In the game against South Africa, Mikel was outplayed by Man of the Match Andile Jali, the 24-year-old Belgium-based midfielder ran the midfield.

Jali’s speed and skill on the ball was said to be too much for Mikel.

Keshi said: “Just because he is not playing in his team (Chelsea), that does not mean I cannot use him in my team, that’s the coaches’ choice. 

But in my team, if I think that he is good shape, with the wealth of experience he has, all his years in the Champions League, I think he’s very important for us in the team, and we just have to make the best of the situation.”

Mikel has not been getting much playing time at his present club Chelsea but Keshi still keeps on giving him playing time, even though he seems out of sorts in the eagles midfield.
