Weird: Man finds Tooth growing in his Nose [Graphic Photos]
A 22-year-old man from Saudi Arabia got fed up after suffering constant
nosebleeds and finally went to a doctor only to discover that he had a rogue
tooth growing – in his nose.
He
had had at least one nosebleed a month for three years.
To
his horror, he was told that a white bony mass measuring half an inch in length
was growing in his nasal cavity.
According
to the study, published in the American Journal of Case Reports, the
‘intranasal supernumerary tooth’ was scratching the inside of his nose, causing
the bleeding.
Doctors
from the King Fahd Military Medical Complex in Dhahran were particularly
surprised at the nose-tooth because the man in question had an almost perfect
set of teeth in his mouth, according to Live Science.
After
being put under general anaesthetic, the tooth was removed successfully.
Dr
John Hellstein, one of the authors of the study, explained that, though rare,
extra teeth can develop near the incisors and some will occasionally grow
upwards.
