Georgina Haig cast as Elsa from 'Frozen' on 'Once Upon a Time'


The Australian actress has been cast to play the ice queen on ABC's fairy tale drama.

The ‘Frozen’ character Elsa will be played by Georgina Haig on ‘Once Upon a Time.’ Time to let it go: an actress has been cast to play Elsa on "Once Upon a Time."

Georgina Haig has been tapped to play the "Frozen" ice queen, with "Once Upon a Time" co-creator Adam Horowitz announcing the news Thursday on Twitter when he congratulated her on landing the role. The Australian actress is best known for her role on cult sci-fi drama "Fringe" and currently stars on the legal drama "Reckless."


Elsa's arrival in Storybrooke was revealed at the end of the season 3 finale, and Horowitz told TVLine that the show's writers wanted to be true to the "Frozen" characters as they were presented in the hit animated film.

The season 3 finale of ‘Once Upon a Time’ revealed that Elsa of ‘Frozen’ will join the show in the fall.

"We are very well aware of how beloved ('Frozen') is, so we're very careful that we want to tell a story that is uniquely ours but also honors those characters that everyone fell in love with this past year," he said.

Haig joins Elizabeth Lail and Scott Michael Foster as newcomers to "Once Upon a Time," who will be playing Elsa's sister Anna and ice-cutter Kristoff, respectively.
