God Will Have Mercy On This Generation,Strange,…Birth of Human-Faced Goat
THE
birth of a goat with human-like features late last week has gotten Malaysian
netizens abuzz following the spread of several photos of the bizarre-looking
animal on Facebook.
The
bizarre occurrence had reportedly taken place in the country’s southern state
of Johor, going viral after making rounds on social media over the weekend.
However,
the baby goat, which was born with what appeared to be a human face, did not
survive the birth and its carcass was handed to the Veterinary Services
Department for observation, The Star reported.
According
to the paper, the seemingly mutated offspring was born in a farm belonging to
oil palm settler Ibrahim Basir who had received lucrative offers to sell the
carcass. Ibrahim said he refused the generous offers and chose to give it to
the department so that the case would be investigated.
The
63-year-old, who hails from Felda Sungai Mas, said he was shocked to discover
that one of his goats had given birth to a kid which was very similar to a
newborn baby.
He said
his business partner Jamaludin Abdul Samad, 50, was the first to make the
discovery on Friday.
“When I
went to check, I was quite shocked but fascinated too as its face, nose, short
legs and even the condition of its soft body seemed like a human baby, but the
light brown fur covering its whole body resembles that of a goat,” he was
quoted saying on Sunday.
He added
that unlike normal baby goats, this one was not born with an umbilical cord.
“This is
what sets the baby goats apart as usually they would be born with the umbilical
cord attached,” Harian Metro quoted him saying.
He said
this was the first time he had had such an encounter after breeding livestock
since 2007
The kid
was already dead when the settlers found it and Ibrahim suggested that it could
have died after being trampled on by its mother or from other complications.
“We kept
the kid’s carcass in a polystyrene box filled with ice cubes before taking it
to the district veterinary office at around noon yesterday,” he said.
Amazed
by the images on social media, many netizens weighed in on the case with some
pointing out that it was a genetic defect, while others claimed it was caused
by bestiality.
A user
identified as Abe Is said: “The (mother) goat must have been raped. I wonder
who the damned human was (involved in this)?”
While
some users surmised that the birth was a result of unnatural sexual
intercourse, others took on a lighthearted approach on Orang Kota – Tinggi’s
community Facebook account, which is thought to have been the first spread the
images online.
“This is
its father,” said Zharif Kifly, posting an image of Chewbacca, the iconic
character science fiction movie saga Star Wars.
